Camps, Camps and more Camps

The Canadian men’s hockey team won GOLD this morning and our camp brochures are finally posted.  What a great weekend!

We are excited as this summer, we are hosting 2 camps; our 16th annual Chess Camp and our first Lego Camp.  These fun, fantastic and most awesome camps will surely challenge and engage your child.  Please see the “What’s Happening” section for the camp brochures.  Space is limited so please sign up soon.

In honour of our fantastic Olympic athletes, we are offering a $25.00 discount if you register your child for both camps!  Yeah Team Canada!

Cheers!

Another Year…

It has been a while since I last posted on this blog so the first thing I’d like to do is to wish everyone a belated Happy New Year and hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  With the polar vortex cooling things down quite a bit this winter, we have been indoors planning some wonderful camps for this year (…and trying to stay warm).

First up is the Matthews Hall March Break Madness Camp, March 14 – 18.  This unique camp offers one day, 2 day or entire week options and is filled with many exciting and fun filled activities.  Please see the What’s Happening section for additional information and the brochure.  If your child attended Summer Chess Camp 2013, please check your inbox this week for a special offer.

Chess Camp 2014 is scheduled for July 14 – 18.  We are finalizing details and will upload the brochure as soon as it is available.   Information will also be sent to last year’s participants.

Save the date!  The very popular and highly requested Lego Camp is back and is scheduled for July 28 – August 1.  This fabulous camp will challenge your young architect as they turn simple toy building bricks into fascinating creations.  We hope your Master Builder can join us this summer.

As always, Chess Club meets each Wednesday at Matthews Hall from 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm.  If your child would like to come for a complimentary visit, please contact us to make arrangements.

“It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…”

Can you believe this is January?  Where’s the snow?  With the pouring rain today, one would think it’s late fall or early spring.  Regardless of the season, we busy bees never stop.  In fact, we have been busy changing our name.  Our name is now LONDON CHESS PROMOTIONS.

We have also been busy planning tournaments and our 15th annual summer camp.  Below is a quick list of current and upcoming events;

  • Upcoming chess tournaments; Winter Classic Tournament – January 30th & Spring Break Tournament – February 27th
  • City Chess Club – Winter Session runs from January 16 – April 17  at Matthews Hall from 6:45pm – 8:00pm

Please contact me if you have any comments or questions.

Happy New Year!

As most of us hibernate inside during these cold and dark winter days (Wow – it’s hard to believe we’ve had 5 snow days here in London) we have already begun planning the 13th annual Summer Chess Camp.  Many fun activities along with chess of course, will make this another fabulous camp to attend.  Please go to the “What’s Happening” tab above for more details.  We hope to see many of you in July.

This year, in association with the Matthews Hall Academy Program, we will be presenting “The Fun-Tastic March Break Camp”.  This week long camp will be sure to please as campers will be busy with a long list of FUN activities that will stimulate the mind.  For additional information and how to register, please click on the “Matthews Hall Fun-Tastic March Break Camp” tab under “What’s Happening”.

The Grade by Grade Chess Championship is quickly approaching as well.  The registration package can be found in “What’s Happening”.  Please note that registration for this tournament is only through the schools.  We had over 1,400 participants competing in last year’s Grade by Grade and we anticipate more will be at this year’s event on March 31st.

Remember, if you are interested in learning more about chess in schools, we have provided some information on the benefits under the “Chess in Schools” tab above.  We would also be pleased to sit down with you to discuss any questions you may have about this amazing program.

Stay warm, enjoy what our beautiful country has to offer (yes, we mean the snow) and we hope to see many of you at these events!

Warm regards,

Mon-Fai, Su & Wai-Hing
