Chess Days of Summer

Attack the piece that bothers you the most!

Greetings Everyone!

Here’s a quick pic of Mr. Lee giving a lesson before the campers head off to play chess!
Here’s a fun question to ask your camper: Why does the camp t-shirt have a two-headed knight? (Perhaps they might recall Mr. Lee’s excellent explanation – parents, you can post their answer below if you wish!)

I think this year is the hottest in the history of the Chess Camp! We’re keeping a close eye on the thermometer and keeping the campers inside the air-conditioned school for some of their recesses. Freezies help beat the heat too, of course. I think we’re going to try and see how long it takes for an egg to cook on the pavement on Thursday! And while we may very well have in-door recess for the whole of Thursday, please ensure that your child comes to camp with a hat, sunscreen, and water bottle.

Looking ahead to Friday, we’ll be holding the Chess Camp Tournament in the afternoon after lunch.
Afterward, parents and guardians are more than welcome to join us for the Puppet Show, Drum Circle Demonstration, and Assembly which will begin at 2:25 pm in the Gymnasium.

We’re looking forward to a great end of a great week of chess and fun times!

Cheers for now!
